The Umrah or (Arabic: عمرة ) is a pilgrimage to Mecca performed by Muslims that can be undertaken at any time of the year. In Arabic Umrah means “to visit a populated place”. As a technical term used in the Shari’ah, Umrah means to perform Tawaf of Ka’bah and Sa’ey between Safa and Marwa, after assuming Ihram, either from a Miqat or a place in Hill.
The Hajj (Arabic: حج, transliteration: Ḥaǧǧ), that is pilgrimage to Mecca (Makkah), is the largest annual pilgrimage in the world.[1] It is the fifth pillar of Islam, an obligation that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by every able-bodied Muslim who can afford to do so. It is a demonstration of the solidarity of the Muslim people, and their submission to God.[2]
The pilgrimage occurs from the 6th to the 12th day of Dhul Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic calendar. Because the Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar, the event cannot be pegged to the Gregorian calendar, whose (solar) year is eleven days longer. In 2007, Hajj took place from December 17 to December 21.
The Hajj is associated with the life of Muhammad, but the ritual of pilgrimage to Mecca predates Islam, and was considered ancient even during his lifetime in the 7th century. Many Muslims believe that it goes back to the time of Abraham in 2000 ad. Pilgrims would join processions of ten people, who would simultaneously converge on Mecca for the week of the Hajj, and perform a series of rituals. Each person would walk counter-clockwise seven times about the Kaaba, the cubical building towards which all Muslims pray, kiss the sacred Black Stone on its corner, run back and forth between the hills of Al-Safa and Al-Marwah, drink from the Zamzam Well, go to the plains of Mount Arafat to stand in vigil, then proceed to Muzdalifah to gather stones , which they would throw at three pillars in Mina to perform the ritual of the Stoning of the Devil. The pilgrims would then shave their heads, perform an animal sacrifice, and celebrate the four day global festival of Eid ul-Adha.[3][4][5]
As of 2007, an estimated two million pilgrims participate in this annual pilgrimage.[6] Crowd-control techniques have become critical, and because of the large numbers of people, many of the rituals have become more stylized. It is not necessary to kiss the Black Stone, but merely to point at it on each circuit around the Kaaba. Throwing pebbles was done at large pillars, which for safety reasons were in 2004 changed to long walls with catchbasins below to catch the stones. The slaughter of an animal can be done either personally, or by appointing someone else to do it, and so forth.[7] But even with the crowd control techniques, there are still many incidents during the Hajj, as pilgrims are trampled in the crush, or ramps collapse under the weight of the many visitors, causing hundreds of deaths. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj has a website, with the message, "Be peaceful, orderly and kind. No crushing."[8]
Hajj can be performed in three different ways:
Tamattu' - Qiran - Ifraad.
1-Tamattu` means performing `Umrah during the Hajj season, and on the Day of Tarwiyah the pilgrim gets into the state of Ihram for Hajj. Anyone intending to perform a Tamattu' Hajj should make intention for `Umrah when approaching the Miqat. The intention here should be for `Umrah. The pilgrim should say,
"Labbayk-Allahumma labbayka bi'Umrah!" or "Labbayka 'Umratan!"
"O Allah! I answer Your call to perform `Umrah."
The pilgrim can add some other du'aa such as: " O Allah! I intend to perform `Umrah, so make it easy for me, and accept it from me." It is also allowed for the pilgrim though intending initially to complete Hajj or 'Umrah to put a condition whereby if for some unexpected sickness or circumstances the journey could not be completed, he, or she, can end the state of Ihraam without having to sacrifice an animal or fast. Therefore, the pilgrim can address Allah saying,
"Inna mahilli minal-Ardi haythu habastani"
" I will end up my state of Ihraam wherever I cannot proceed."
After this, the pilgrim proceeds with Talbiyah as shown previously. Once the pilgrim reaches Makkah, he heads for al-Masjid al-Haraam and circumambulates the Ka`bah seven times in a state of wudu beginning by kissing the black stone or if it's impossible by raising the hands as far as the ears saying, "Bismillah Allahu Akbar!" After Tawaaf, the pilgrim prays two Rak'aas at Maqaamu Ibraahim - without disturbing those who circumambulate- drinks Zamzam water then goes to walk between as-Safaa and al-Marwah seven times, then gets the hair cut or shaved. With this the state of Ihraam and 'Umrah are ended. On the day of Tarwiyah, that is the 8th of Dhul-Hijjah, the pilgrim enters another time in the state of Ihraam saying,
" Labbayk-Allahumma labbayka bi-Hajj!" or "Labbayka Hajjan"
"O Allah! I answer Your call to perform Hajj."
The pilgrim can add, " O Allah! I intend to perform Hajj, so make it easy for me, and accept it from me. I intend to perform Hajj and I am entering in the state of Ihram only for Your sake, O Allah !" Then the Talbiyah is repeated throughout the rituals of Hajj in Mina, Arafah, and Muzdalifah. On the 10th of dhul-Hijjah, a sacrifice should be offered to Allah as mentioned in Qur'an after stoning at al-Jamaraat. After the sacrifice is done, the pilgrim can shave or cut the hair. Once the Tawaaf of Ifaadah is done, the pilgrim should do Sa'y between as-Safa and al-Marwah for Hajj. However, if a person starts with the Tawaaf of al-Ifaadah, then Sa'y, then shaves and then stones at al-Jamaraat it is also accepted.
Tamattu' Hajj is the most recommended for people and it was more encouraged to it by the Prophet (S). This is indeed the best way to perform Hajj. Once Hajj is completed, a Hady should be offered on the 10th. Allah (swt) says,
"If any one wishes to continue the Umra on to the Hajj, he must make an offering such as he can afford, but if he cannot afford it, he should fast three days during the Hajj and seven days on his return, making ten days in all. This is for those whose household is not in (the precincts of) the Sacred Mosque, and fear Allah, and know that Allah, is strict in punishment."(2:196)
2-Qiran means to combine Hajj and 'Umrah. This means that the pilgrim should declare the intention to perform both Hajj and `Umrah together,
"Labbayk-Allahumma labbayka bi-Hajjin wa-'Umrah!" or
"Labbayka Hajjan wa 'Umratan!"
"O Allah! I answer Your call to perform Hajj and 'Umrah!"
In this kind of Hajj, it is not allowed for the pilgrim to end the state of Ihraam after Sa'ay. The pilgrim will not have to perform after the Ifadah Tawaaf on the 10th of dhil Hijjah the Sa'y because it is already performed for both Hajj and `Umrah.
The pilgrim is supposed to bring his sacrificial animal with him as the Prophet (S) did. This must be done because the rituals of Hajj and `Umrah were joined together.
3-Ifraad means that the pilgrim declares his intention for Hajj only.
" Labbayk-Allahumma labbayka bi-Hajj!" or " Labbayka Hajjan"
"O Allah! I answer Your call to perform Hajj."
The pilgrim maintains his Ihraam up to the Day of Sacrifice. No animal sacrifice offering is required from him.
Pilgrims can also go to Mecca to perform the rituals at other times of the year. This is sometimes called the "lesser pilgrimage", or Umrah. However, even if they perform the Umrah, they are still obligated to perform the Hajj at some other point in their lifetime.

The virtue of Hajj & Qurban
From Abu Hurairah RA. that Muhammad SAW. He said, 'Umrah to the next Umrah is a sin between them; and mabrur hajj has no reward except to heaven. "(Muttafaqun'alaih).
From Ibn Mas'ud RA that Muhammad SAW said, "Take the job by performing Umrah Hajj: for they can remove the sin and unbelief, as the smith ubupan can remove dirt, iron, gold and silver; and no reward for Hajj but heaven alone mabrur . "(Saheeh: Saheeh al-Sagheer Jami'us).
From Abu Hurairah RA he said, "Whoever pilgrimage for Allah SAW and said he was not dirty and do not necessarily immoral acts he returned (to his country) as the day when he was born his mother." (Muttafaqun'alaih) ".
From Ibn Umar RA of the Prophet Muhammad, he said, "Those who fight in the way of Allah and those who perform the pilgrimage and Umrah are guests Alloh. They are called by Him, and they fulfill his call, and they pleaded with him, and they fulfill his call, and they pleaded with Him, and He filled their requests. "(Hasan: Saheeh Ibn Majah).
From Aisha RA Muhammad SAW said: "Charity is the most favored of God on the day of slaughter is animal blood qurban, diqurbankan real animals will come (to do good for the qurban) on the Day of Resurrection future with horns, feathers and bones , sesunguhnya (reward) from the blood of animals qurban has come from God before it fell to earth, then do it this good ". (H. R. Tirmidhi).
Hadith Muhammad Ibn Abbas said: "There is no charity money more noble than that spent on the holiday qurban Adha" (HR Dar Qutni).

Him there are signs of real, (including) the Station Ibrahim; whoever entered it (the House) attains security; on the pilgrimage is a duty men owe to Allah, that is (for) those who sanggung the journey. Whoever denies (liabilities haji), Allah is Rich (does not need anything) from Worlds. "(Surat Ali'Imran; 96-97).

Then there was a friend asked, "O Messenger of Allah, whether it is every year?" He was silent, until she asked him three times. Then he saw. replied, "If I answered, 'Yes,' of course required every year and you certainly will not be able to." Then he continued, "Let me, nothing is left to you; because actually has destroyed the people before you just because they ask many questions and often fail (guidance) of their Prophet. Therefore, when I ordered a case to you, then all you can do it, and if I prevent you from doing something, then leave him! " (Saheeh: 629 Muslim Mukhthasar, Muslims II: 975 no: 1337, and Nisaa'i V: 110).
Ibn Umar r.a. The Messenger of Allah. He said, "Islam is established on five cases: (first) testified that it is no Ilah (worthy diibadahi) except Allah and that Muhammad is His messenger, (both) establish prayer, (third) out zakat, (fourth) perform the pilgrimage, and (fifth) the fast of Ramadan. " (Muttafaqun'alaih: Bari Fath I: 45 no: 1638 was lafadz him, Jasmine Bari I: 49 no: 8, Tirmidhi, IV: 119 no: 2736, and Nisaa'i VIII: 107).
From Ibn Abbas r.a. Messenger of Allah. He said, "This is another 'umrah bertamattu' with her then anyone who has brought al-hadya let him bertahallul because it has actually entered Umrah in the pilgrimage until the Day of Resurrection." (Saheeh: Irwa-ul Ghalil no: 982 and Muslim no: 2911-12411).
From Ash-Shubayya bin Ma'bad, he said: I never dating to `Umar then asked," O Commander of the Faithful, I have converted to Islam, and I get, that the pilgrimage and Umrah obligatory upon me, so I've started ihram for both. " So the word of him, "You have been given instructions to follow the Sunnah Nabimu." (Saheeh: Irwa-ul Ghalil no: 983, Nisaa'i V: 146, 'Aunul Ma'bud V: 230 no: 1722, Ibn Majah II: 989 no: 2970).

HAJJ FROM MUHAMMAD SAW
Imam Muslim narrated with sanadnya-sanadnya from Ja'far ibn Muhammad from his father, he said, we've met with Jabir bin Abdullah. Then she asked particulars of people until the end to me. So I replied, "I was Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Husayn." Then she held my head in his hands, then release the top button of my shirt, then the bottom, then put her hand on my chest. At that time, I was young young. Then he said, "Welcome, O my brothers son. Ask anything you want! "Then I asked him and he at that time was blind. Then it was time to pray, then he stood with the cloth-covered dibahunya, then decrease both ends because it was too narrow, while the shawl hanging at the hanger, and then he prayed with us. After prayer, I asked, '(O Jabir, please) explain to me about the Prophet Hajj Manasik. Then he motioned with his hand to form a nine and then explains: "That the Messenger of Allah. Live in (Medina) for nine years is not the haj. Then in the tenth year announced to the people (the friends) that the Messenger of Allah. About the pilgrimage. And him al-Qur'an and the Prophet descended. knows its interpretation (tafsir) what the Messenger of Allah. Practice, we must imitate. Then Prophet bertalbiyah:
"I came to meet thy call, O God calls me to come meet you, I came to meet your call no partner to Thee I come to meet your call. Surely all praise, and all power ni'mat are yours no partner for You. "
Then the pilgrims say jama'ah talbiyah companions pronounced it; Messenger of Allah. let them continue to say talbiyah and he did, too. "
Then Jabir r.a. continued his statement, 'we're just going to the pilgrimage, we do not understand the umrah (at the time), so when we arrived at the House, the Messenger of Allah. touching (holding) hajar aswad, then the Prophet thawaf with predicted (predicted a quick way to short step [trot] (pent.) three laps and walk thawaf with four rounds, then he came to the Station of Ibrahim peace be upon him, and then read verse, "And make some of the Station of Ibrahim as a place of prayer." (Al-Baqarah: 125).
Then the Messenger of Allah. placed alongside the Station of Abraham House. Ja'far ibn Muhammad said, was my father, Muhammad said. "I never knew him (Jabir) explain this, except from the Prophet .." (Then Jabir continued his statement), then the Messenger of Allah. prayed two raka'at with reading, Sunday and HUWALLAHU Qul Qul KAAFIRUUN AYYUHAL YAA, then back again to the Black Stone, and menjama'nya, then out into the hills Safa. "
Then the Prophet prayed in between reading it; he did so three times. Then the Prophet descended (into) the Al-Marwah, until the two legs when stepping on the middle of the valley, he walked (with a predicted) that if we climb, he was walking until he reached the Marwa. Later on the Prophet Marwah do as he did at the Safa, so when arriving late on thawafnya Marwah, he said, "If I teach what I have left now, I shall not bring animals hadyu and I will make it umrah, therefore, whoever of you (happen) do not bring animals hadyu, bertahalullah and replace it with Umrah Hajj! "Then Surawah bin Malik bin Ju'syam said," O Messenger of Allah, whether for us this year alone or for long forever? When the day arrived Tarwiyah, the pilgrims leave for jama'ah Mina, then they start Ihram for Hajj. Prophet camel ride, and then pray with them, shubur, 'Asr, Maghrib,' evening, and Shubuh. Then the Messenger of Allah. paused until the rising sun, and he ordered his tent installed in the Namira. Then the Messenger of Allah. walk (to Arafat), and the Quraysh did not doubt, then the Messenger of Allah. standing Masy'aril Haram, as is usually done by the Quraysh at the time of ignorance, until the Messenger of Allah. arrived at 'Arafat, and he found his tent had been placed in Namira, then he stopped there until when the sun slips. Prophet ordered (his friend) in order to prepare Qaswanya camels, then set off to arrive in the middle of the valley, then the Prophet delivering the sermon in front of the whole jama'ah pilgrimage, and he said:
"Surely you blood and treasure for you bendamu illegitimate illegitimate as this day, at this bulanmu, in this country. Know that all forms of vile rage case under my feet. Then the Messenger of Allah. Qaswa up ', until he reached the Haram Masy'aril, and facing the Qiblah, then pray to Him, bertakbir, and read the interpretation for his sake. Arafat

"The best prayer is a prayer on the Day of Arafat."

Muzdalifah: The Hajj Jamaa'ah Overnight
Muzdalifah located between Mina and Arafat. So called because jama'ah pilgrims coming to this place in the middle of the night or because the jama'ah to leave this place together. Mina: The Mabit and Throw Jumroh
One of the historic place for Muslims in the city of Mecca is Mina. Mina is a desert valley located about 5 kilometers from the city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Mina was visited by pilgrims on 8 Dzulhijah or the day before the Standing at Arafat. Pilgrims stay here day and night so that they can perform Dzuhur prayer, Asr, Maghrib, Isha and Fajr.
